Electronic ticketing is a concept used in public transport thatconsists of paying the value of tickets electronically, using technological devices, such as a smart card or similar.
To operationalize the Electronic Ticketing System (SBE), are developeddedicated equipment and softwarein the automation of payment through electronic credits.
The validator, equipment installed near the turnstiles on buses or at subway and train station locks, is the central element of this system. It has as main functionread cards or QRcodes, when you have a specific reader.
In addition to the main advantage of not using cash to pay fees,electronic ticketing adds several benefits, Like for example:
- Integration networksthat allow the user of the system to make several trips through the transport network (or even between different networks), but paying a reduced amount on tickets;
- Emissions of reportsthat can help transport system managers to identify needs for adjustments in the operation.
- Integration with systemsfor tracking modals by GPS, where a network of useful information can be created for the user, who will be able to know, for example, how long it will take for the desired bus to arrive at the boarding point.
